Hi. I'm new to this forum but have been reading it with interest. I have a 2005 Mondeo 2.0 TDCi and also suffer hot start problems.Took car to main dealer, diagnostic check done and was told actuator on turbo was u/s. Also told I had to buy complete actuator/turbo and they could do it for £2,198.40p.
The engines and transmissions are basically sound, although we have heard of some difficulties with the four-speed automatic transmissions on 2.0-litre petrol models, which can fail after 60,000

I have a 57 plate 2.0tdci zetec and its always done this intermittently although behaved perfectly when taken back to the dealers I bought it from. On my insistence they did replace the battery but to no avail. Interestingly on a cold morning last week it took several attempts to start, not the usual 2.
2010 Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI. New car to me. Only had 4 weeks. Been fine up to now yesterday on the way to work gear changes particularly into 2nd and 4th were stiff. Not impossible but just a bit stiff. There was almost a squeak as I forced it in. Felt the same when the car was off and stationary when I got to work.
The 2.2 TDCi diesel is the most powerful diesel in the Mondeo and significantly improved compared to its predecessor. It has only one turbo left, a more durable DPF and much better performance. Its main advantage is that it was combined with an automatic machine with a classic converter. What Common Problems in a Ford Mondeo MK4?
the drivers side drive shaft in the centre is common for failing the bit just before the actual centre bearing. the centre bearing being held in place with an exhaust type clamp. symptoms are violent shaking, a little arround 20mph then shaking violently at 50-60. probably more common on diesels than anything else.
