I'm still confused about which timing kit to get. Some vendors say it's for the years 2000 to 2001, some 2000 to 2002 and others say 2001 to 2005. Also when looking at the kits on ebay they sell 2 different timing chain kits for the 2001 Lincoln ls v8. 4.2FSI Audi a8 Cz.2Audi V8 4.2 FSI engine timing chains replacement part.2 Wow with all the 4.2l V8 timing chain issues it makes changing the timing belt and water pump on my 2.7l biturbo a "blessing in disguise". When I read the new service intro booklet for the S4 4.2 V8 showing 4 chains and all the tensioner and chain guides at the back of the engine I wondered how well tested and developed this new engine was?

The timing chain is designed to last the life of the engine. you need to replace the timing belt eventually, But that is completely different. the timing chain is a full engine removal. as long as you keep the right oil in the engine and perform regular oil changes, you shouldn't have to worry about the timing chain. i have a '10 S4 with 125k
